Confirming your osteoarthritis is unicompartmental — reviewing existing imaging, or advising whether a scan is needed before a brace is fitted

What the research shows
Unloader bracing for osteoarthritis affecting one side of the knee has been studied across multiple clinical trials. The findings are encouraging for the right patient — though not universal, which is exactly why assessment matters.
Reduced pain and improved function — significant improvements in WOMAC pain, stiffness and function scores in patients using an unloader brace (Briggs et al., Journal of Knee Surgery, 2012).
